Cooking is a skill I just don’t master!

I finally have figured out what i wanna do in 2011.

I wanna learn how to cook 🙂

In about two weeks I’ll be tuning 23 and so far I don’t know how to cook anything besides water. And let me make it clear: that’s only in our kitchen water boiler. Don’t ask me to do that shiz on a stove.

Yes, I can’t do squash in the kitchen. And when my mom for some reason decides not to cook a day I have two options: go to- the nearest fast food restaurant to stuff myself or starve to dead for a day.

It’s actually not just me. Most men in my family can’t cook. Okay let me translate that: my dad can’t cook either, so that shouldn’t be a big surprise that I’m the same. If I act all sobby-faced I can maybe convince my mom to bake me an egg… which is another thing I can’t do, but other than that I have not much choice left. Oh boohoo, like you’re perfect!!

I remember in October when I was in The Netherlands and I was craving a baked egg for breakfast I had to ask my 9 year old cousin to bake it for me, while I stood helplessly by the side. My 16 year old cousin made me macaroni another day and to me that was like some wakeup call to learn to prepare my own daily meal. After all isn’t it my life plan to get out of the house as soon as I possibly can? And unless I become some multi-millionaire fast (or if I marry one ASAP) and hire an entire army of professional chefs to prepare me fancy appetizer and over-the-top main courses, I’d better learn how to put a plate on the table and fill my stomach. After all, anorexia is so 2005, not?

Wanna know just how bad things are? I can’t even “cook” rice correctly; basically all you have to do is add water and plug in the cooker, right? WRONG! My rice is either too dry or too wet. Oh it gets worse. Even a simply task like turning on the stove can be life threatening to me.

It’s pathetic I know!!! But I make up for it in other areas of creativity. I promise.

Soooooooooooo…. let’s get down to business.

This is my open casting call for the perfect teacher(s). I have a lot of friends that claim to be the real iron chefs in the world so this is your chance to have your first apprentice. The challenge: can you turn this absolute kitchen n00b in a somewhat-sorry-excuse-of-a-cook?

After all, it would be cool to learn to put dishes like Rigatoni con la Pajata, Tortelloni ricotta and spinaci, Crostini con condimenti misti, Gratin dauphinois or Salade Niçoise on the table. Half of those dishes I can’t even pronounce, so let’s not even start talking about preparing them!

Actually I don’t even know what any of those are…. I just googled them. LOL

Okay seriously now. I’m not that interested in preparing traditional Surinamese food. To eat it, yes (for the most part), but I’d rather learn to prepare meals that aren’t “every day meals”. Gosh we already have enough of the experts in those meals. Time for the experimentalists to rise.

So this is your chance. You can either help me or at least point me in the right direction. And in 2012 we’ll see how far I’ve come. I’ll be eternally gratefully and there is even payment involved. That’s if you take meals as payments or you’ll have to wait for me to discover that undiscovered-underground-railroad.

Happy 2011 everyone!!!

It’s time for my annual New Year’s blogpost.

This is where I pen down a summary of how the previous year has been and what I plan to do this year. I used to do this every year on my myspace blog, but since that place is deader than dead now, I’ll just do it here on facebook. Mind you, this may get let, so I hope you have your reading glasses on.

So how can I summarize 2010 in one word: EPIC

It has been on great year and I hope that 2011 will bring the same or even more awesomeness.
Yes, of course there has been some low points, but the good moments overweight the bad moments of this year. So I won’t let that form my opinion on the entire year.

As I read my last year’s New Year blog post I see that I did exactly as I had set out to do; make the 2010 MY year… and I succeeded. 2010 really was MY year.

LIFE

So how’s life? Life’s good 🙂

Well not always. I wish life could be moonlit skies, colorful rainbows and meteor showers every day, but sadly this is real life and it’s not. So we’d better get used to it.

I have noticed that I’m slowly changing. I’m getting old here. I now have actual studying to do and a job from 7.00 – 15.00h. (Sadly) Less free time for friends and more daily worries. I miss the time where I didn’t have to worry about money and my spending rate. Life was so much simpler. However, for some strange reason I still prefer the present over the past.

COLLEGE

I’m not in my second year of my ICT studies. Now let me say that what I do is A LOT! At first it was easy, because it was mostly webdesign and as many of you know I already knew quite a lot, but later when I started hearing words like SQL and JAVA, my head went WTF?! But on one stupid silly minor subject I passed all subjects. The other I will do later this year again.

WORK

Things at work have been great. I’ve been working over a year now. I never thought I’d last this long myself. But all’s well that ends well, is what they say. I do admit that this has been the busiest time of my life.  With that and school work. But somehow I’m able to manage.

Guess who had a recent promotion?
Great right? Well maybe not THAT great.
Gotta keep in mind that with great power comes great responsibility.

I have a lot more to do now and a lot more responsibility. Thankfully I have someone to back me up and a team that I have trust in. So… LET’S PRAY!!!! Hahaha

FAMILY

Hmm, family? What can I really say about family? There have been the usual rows. Not many worth mentioning. Or maybe, but I’d rather not. Uhm, let’s move on to the next subject shall we?

FRIENDS

I’m very grateful for the friends I have and the ones I’ve made in 2010. I had many crazy times with them. 2010 was for a huge part awesome because of them.  The fancy breakfast in the coffee shops, the late night clubbing, dancing, drinking, movies, bowling, chilling etc. It’s fun.
Now that we are all super busy with our own life, the times we spent together are even more amazing.

pAArtying

I never used to be the one to go out that much. It just never thrilled me that much to go out and I didn’t undertstand the concept of getting wasted and suffering hangovers… but in 2010 something happened.  I somehow found the party animal that lives within me. Somehow the chains got broken and the animal got unleashed. And he had a very great time.
A reasonable amount of alcohol has been consumed (riiiight), dance floor have been made hot, head has hurt several times and many sleepless nights have been. But it’s all freaking worth it for the years I have spent at home. Time to life the nightlife. And I have the amazing friends, which I mentioned before to thank for ruining my once so peaceful life…. Hahaha, joking.

Party of here!!! w00t w00t <:o)

VACATION

In October 2011 I also went on my first vacation all on my own. I’ve been on many trips before and even flown once alone, but never ALONE. But since I’m a big boy now (LOL) it was time to spread my wings and last October it was just me, myself and I packing my bags, boarding the plane and flying over the big blue all the way to The Netherlands. And there I had the time of my life. It was only 11 shorts days, but 11 shorts days and eternal satisfaction. But what happens in Amsterdam stays in Amsterdam!

Or does that only count for Vegas?

CONCERT

During my vacation I also I one very special memorable moment.
The Tarja Turunen concert I went attended in Tilburg, NL.

Do you know what it’s like to listen to someone’s music over and over again, watch many videos, play the live DVD very loud repeatedly, save many photos on your hard drive and probably have their website as one of FAVORITES… and suddenly BAM!!! … they are standing in the flesh, right in front of you. Probably within touching distance… and you go: “OMG, she’s real!”.

Truly, one of the greatest moments of my life (so far!).

And all it took was a relatively cheap concert ticket, a cab, 2 train rides and another cab to get to the ‘013 pop podium’ in Tilburg, The Netherlands. I still remember every moment like it was yesterday. The excitement I felt, the pain in my throat and legs after the show, how I made my cousin and his friend wait the entire show outside in the blistering cold. 😀 totally worth it and I plan on doing that more often.

LOVE

2010 was quite the year for me in the romance area. I fell in love 3 times.

Before I continue, let me just spoil the ending and tell you that they all FAILED!
Still feel like any further?

You probably should. My ‘love stories’ are seriously-overly-dramatic romance novel material.

Love Story #1

This story began in end of 2009. It started online. The protagonist of this romance novel was madly in love with someone who would have made the PERFECT better half. They probably had more in common than most religions do. However things went nowhere and the main character had to retreat when he noticed the mysterious lover’s heart lied across the ocean at the time.

But don’t worry. They are both still are good friends. 🙂

Love Story #2

This one was quite a big one. Mr. hopeless romantic thought for a while: “finally… this is gonna be perfect. Finally someone worthy of introducing to my friends and family.”

This is quite a long story, you should hear it some time.

But to some it all up. This is a story that started way back in 2008 when there was silent admiring in the shadows involved and finally a twist of fate brought them together on facebook. (The Love Network)

Things went good for a while, and suddenly it didn’t anymore…. The lover’s heart was still broken. So Mr. Hopeless Romantic decided to wait until Heartbroken Lover’s heart was health, but it want from bad from ugly. Let’s keep the story short shall we: Mr. Hopeless Romantic finally had to edit his facebook friend list, delete a phone number and block and email address in order to move on. While he was left with broken dreams, an original DVD of The Phantom of the Opera (which was meant for a romantic date) and feeling weird for a while when going to certain places and while listening to certain songs.

Love Story #3

Out of nowhere the protagonist was love stuck for the third time that year. Unlike he had felt in years. It was all middle school crush again. I’m talking about butterflies in the stomach, sleepless nights and one person on his mind the entire time. It started out as a minor crush suddenly it got HUGE!!!

Remember my facebook status update: “First it was tiny and suddenly it was HUGE!”

Suddenly a fantasy became a reality. Mr. Hopeless Romantic knew that this wasn’t love, but he’d take anything he could get in this uncommon saga. However, fate tried to warn him, yet he did not listen.

Do you believe in fate? I do… most times. And since he refused to listen he ended up with a very ugly scratch on his mom’s car and quite immature reject. Oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

PLANS FOR 2011

But now it’s 2011 and it’s time to leave behind the past, live in the present and work on the future. It’s time for change… or at least not fall back.
What do I have planned for 2011? Nothing much really!

Just to make 2011 just as epic and awesome as 2010.
But I think I’ve bored you enough with my ongoing words, so I’m going to leave this part about my plans for 2011 for the next post. Hope that you’re willing to read again.

Everybody’s sick!

Is it me or does it seem like everyone started 2011 feeling sick?

At work, at school, on facebook I see that everyone is feeling a little ill.
Even I have been sneezing like crazy, and a minor dry cough, but no serious illness. I feel normal. Just these minor annoying signs of upcoming illness.

There are no stupid questions… only stupid people.

Someone once said: “There are no stupid questions, only stupid people.”
I’m really starting believe this now.

This morning before stepping into the elevator the guard asked me: “Are you going up?”
AND WE WERE BOTH ON THE GROUND FLOOR!!!!

I should have answered: “No, I’m going down to the secret underground lair.”

I’m switching internet providers so since December 1st I’ve been without internet at home. So usually I’m bored out of my mind behind my pc. So I decided to open Photoshop and start creating stuff.  Hopefully it’s not as bad as my as my last banner.

Silent admirer

Filed under: Poetry — Clayton @ 10:19 am
Who keeps you warm at night, I wonder
Who’s the to hold your hand, I ask
Who does your heart belongs to, I’m thinking
Who makes you smile each morning?
These are the things I ask myself
As I silently admire you in the dark
Always on the background dreaming, screaming
It is where I seem to belong
When darkness falls, your face appears
Unwilling to let me silently sleep
It sickens me to carry on
A silent admirer I remain

Sweet agony of love

Filed under: Poetry — Clayton @ 10:18 am
I feel the flames burning inside
Devouring what is left of my fragile heart
Restless and sleepless I remain
Breathing is nearly impossible
Taken over by a force so strong
Blown away by this beautiful sight
Fallen so deep under the spell
No scar-less way out of this trap
The pain is bittersweet
And the hurt is my pleasure
The sweet agony of love
I’m holding on to something I fear
The road is long and I travel slowly
Every second is an hour and a day, a year
It is undeniable that I’ve fallen deep
These words are the living proof

HELP people!!!

I’m getting rusty and lost my creativity! I’ve not been able to make anything good for so long now.

I made an attempt, but it’s not very original. Looks very much like others I have made before. But I had to make something. And below is the result.

Paul Wesley (actor of the tv series: The Vampire Diaries)

Okay now… give it to me!!! 😐 *fears the comments*
